Organized Crime in the 20's
After the U.S made alcoholic beverages illegal, many gangs and organized crime groups started to form. They bought and sold alcohol to other groups secretly. Jobs were scarce and people needed money. Organized crime was dangerous, but it was an easy way to make money. Many gangsters, Al Capone being the most famous, would do anything to get alcohol, like murder and steal. Violence on the streets increased rapidly and the public grew disrespectful to the law. Bribing government officials was very common and they were creative in the way they would hide the alcohol. The crime stopped when the U.S passed an amendment repealing alcohol being illegal.
